A Day Made Just for Me

29 Mar

“ This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24.

Wow! As I look out my back window I see the sun’s rays shining down on every inch of my back yard–every inch of creation, really. Everywhere on this earth the sun is shining. Even at night when we are going to bed, we think the sun has gone to bed; however it merely is reflecting in greater capacity on another side of our vast planet. Even on rainy days the sun is still shining. This intricate science is God’s design.

God will also design our day, if we let him.

I was driving around running errands recently and stopped at a red light near a church. The church had a sign out front with this posting:

Is God your destination or your last resort?

That question struck me. Had the light not turned red as a signal to stop, I would have driven by and missed this inquiry.

So for the next few miles I found myself thinking up scenarios of recent days where God was one of those to me and then he was the other. This sign basically suggested to me that sometimes I seek God first and sometimes his wisdom is my last resort. God has plans for my day that I may possibly be missing out on because my pace is too fast, my worries are large or I am ignorant to his cues.

The more stressing we do, the fewer blessings we see.

I was on the phone the other day with a friend and we were talking about a decision I was working on. She asked the BIG question, “Have you prayed about it?” Whew! Fortunately I had because I wanted to answer her question in the affirmative. Her question was a pleasant reminder that my thoughts should go to God first, rather than wrestle around with my thoughts all alone.

Whatever I am facing in whatever lot in life I dwell, shouldn’t God rule?

After all, he made the day and I shall simply rejoice in it.
