Promises

20 Jul

Do you remember being a kid and when someone told you something if you wanted to secure the truth in the substance of the conversation you asked, “Do you promise?” Okay…maybe that was just me, but the word promise held great weight for me. A promise was a covenant; a firm agreement that the exchange of information was based on truth.

I still put weight on promises. I do not ask for promises from people as I have matured into a more trusting soul over the youngster I once was. And promises from people can sometimes break apart. But as a believer, I have learned that God has promises, too and God’s promises are valuable and steadfast.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:8

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

Psalm 55:22

The LORD is my light and my salvation– whom shall I fear?

Psalm 27:1

I praise God for promises kept! AMEN!
