That phrase has always been funny to me. When someone arrives at a place, they are considered to be “in the house.”
When I go to a location I am considered to be “in the house.”
When someone unexpected shows up, they are considered to be “in the house.”
“In the house” suggests something special connected to the situation at hand.
God has a house.
Am I “in the house” where God is concerned?
“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:2-6
“My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” Isaiah 32:18
“By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” Proverbs 24:3-4
Speaking of God and houses…I see church as God’s house. And I know I am always welcome there. If I have been away from God’s house for days, weeks, years or forever, I know God has an available space for me and a WELCOME sign boldly posted.
God’s house is open to to all.
When I am at church I am “in THE house.”
AMEN!
