Restoration

22 Aug

“For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds saith the Lord.” Jeremiah 30:17

Powerful words! What does it mean when we pray for someone to get better and it is not fulfilled?

What gets derailed when we earnestly ask for something and it seems like we do not receive?

Did this scripture misrepresent the truth or is there a better way?

I once attended a women’s gathering for healing and the one take away I still recall from the day is that HEALING IS NOT CURING.

When we are “healed” it may not mean we are free of disease, made physically better or strengthened in body past our illness. It may mean that our spirit is healed.

The terminally ill learn acceptance.

The chronically achy learn to cope.

The sin sick learn to change their ways.

THOSE are acts of healing!

But our simple human minds confuse healing with curing and disappointment ensues.

What does it mean to be restored?

To be made whole?

Not on our time table nor in our plan, but in God’s unique and powerful ways we can find restoration.

If we only believe!
