Oh my dearest and amazing Lord, what is happening? Our world continues to be in a tailspin. Violence, terror, war, pain, suffering and sadness.
Where do I turn? What shall I do? I turn, God, to YOU!
I want your peace and perfection in this world of unrest and imperfection.
Help me to be a listener, not just a talker.
Help me to be open to ideas in opposition to mine.
Help me to perpetuate an old school style of discourse where we simply AGREE TO DISAGREE.
Teach me to love those who are difficult to understand.
Teach me to hear their words even as we cannot fully appreciate each differing idea.
Teach me to pray for my enemy that YOU might in fact intervene as called by me to do.
Better yet, teach me to not have enemies, only people whom you love and who happen to differ from me.
I want your wisdom, inspiration and love, just as your Word describes:
“I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another” (John 13:34). The apostle Paul goes on to tell us “Love does no wrong to a neighbor. Love, therefore, is the fulfillment of the law” (Rom. 13:10).
