Who loves fruit? My current favorite is strawberries but in all honesty my biggest favorite of all is watermelon. I even appreciate canned fruit, which I know some may reject for the nutrients lost in the canning process. I think canned peaches with cottage cheese on top are quite the treats.
The Bible teaches that we are to bear fruit and that there are actually 9 fruits we bear while living in accordance to God’s love, law and with the Holy Spirit sent to us to assist with living. LOVE, JOY, PEACE PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF CONTROL.
Yikes! As a believer, I am supposed to do all that? Such a tall order! No wonder some people feel overwhelmed trying to measure up in God’s eye.
GOOD NEWS! There is NO measuring up. God loves us simply for the person we are. God made us just the way we are for a purpose –for HIS purpose– and when we can accomplish any of those fruits listed above God will rejoice for us and with us.
Note: Two of the fruits are patience and kindness. Let’s bestow those fruits upon ourselves while we wait for the other fruits to “kick in.”
One of my favorite Bible verses. I learned it as a song while going to Christian youth gatherings with my kids. It is such a happy verse when you sing it with 200+ youth and a praise band. Brings back wonderful memories.
How cool! Thanks for sharing your memory.
