Snow Day

28 Jan

God blanketed my yard in snow a while ago. Over a foot of snow…overnight. It was beautiful. I saw no brown crinkled grass, no wilted perennials, no mud, just sparkling snow, pure white, fluffy snow. This brightened my day. It was a day off school to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, but it would have been a day off due to weather. A photo would not do justice to that pure and lovely scene.

While I still see day to day trials all around me –Covid spread, other illnesses, societal division and unrest, loved ones with woes and cares and some older precious loved ones suffering their fading health, the snow that day was a promise. The promise is that God will cover all my sins and worries with grace and love. I can face tomorrow’s challenges with God’s precious protection on my heart.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.”

Such a tender message comes from Psalm 121. God’s watchful and ever-present eye is on everything I do. God will know my needs before I even utter a prayer.

For God’s goodness I am ever grateful.
