Here we are going through life, fighting our own personal battles, witnessing world injustice, crime, pockets of evil, illness and just overall feelings of malcontent. It’s hard to feel joyful and optimistic in this pandemic world that many of us thought would have ended by now. SIGH….
Don’t we want to cry out, “Why?”
Then enters the word of the Lord:
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. Isaiah 55:8 (New Living Translation)
The words help me realize a few things.
God’s hand is on the spin of the earth.
God’s love is in every corner of the world.
God’s watchful eye is powerfully upon us.
God winces when I cry out, “Why?”
It would be God’s preference for me to express my love, patience, faithfulness and trust. And then I wince.
But thankfully, God is a patient being. God knows all of the comings and goings of my world, of my mind and of my heart. God is a listener and my advocate. I want to give back to God just as he gives to me.
In response to God’s gracious love and care, I will each day try to return the favor in some small way.
