Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still yield fruit in old age;
They shall be full of sap and very green,
To declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. ~ Psalm 92:13-15
Isn’t this good news? Did you look closely at the part that says we will still yield fruit in old age?
That IS good news! No one should ever use age as an excuse to shy away from doing God’s work. People in all age brackets are needed.
The two year old offers a hug.
The four year old shares a hand drawn picture.
The ten year old sets the table and helps with dishes.
The twenty year old volunteers.
The forty year old drives the car pool.
The sixty year old chairs a charitable event.
The eighty year old holds the hand of a ninety five year old shut in.
There is work for the ages–God’s work is available for all ages.
I shall never discount what a child might do and never dismiss what the elderly may offer; and everyone in between!
Showing the love of God can take many shapes. And finding daily ways to share the love can be enriching.
For that I am grateful.
